A story about a guy at a party at a point in history when everything is sort of going badly. He meets various people and is unhappy. Still making alterations.
This is very dark but I think a lot of people are already living this way because they realize we really are living at the end of the world. I probably would be too if I didn't have God in my life.
I was little confused though, I didn't figure out what was suppose to be causing the end of the world in your story. (Or was I not suppose to?)
