Why do you charge me to upload? |
| |
The primary reason LitPitch charges its writers to post work is to maintain quality control and help maintain the purpose and the intent of the site, which is to help authors find a platform for their material and receive feedback. We believe that there are enough sites available which allow written work to be posted for free, and that these sites tend to become cluttered with vandalism or other random material that is posted only because it is free to do so. |
 |
How do I upload a book? |
| |
To upload a book, start by logging into your LitPitch account and visit your profile page. After it loads, click the Edit My Page button on the left side. Next, click on the Works link in the upper right corner. Finally, press the Add A New Work link and enter all of your book's information. Press the Update Info button to upload. |
 |
How much does it cost to upload my book? |
| |
A basic writer subscription costs $11.95 per year. This allows you to upload up to two separate works, not to exceed 100MB. For each additional block of two posted works, the annual charge is $7.95. You may switch out your work as often as you like, as long as your total number of posted works does not exceed the number allowed by your subscription. |
 |
What formats do you accept for uploads? |
| |
LitPitch accepts works in Microsoft Word (.doc), Adobe PDF (.pdf), Rich Text (.rft), and Plain Text (.txt) formats. You only need to upload your work in one format. LitPitch will automatically generate the remaining formats of your work shortly after you upload it. |
 |
Does my work need to be copyrighted before I can upload it? |
| |
In the United States, your original work enjoys copyright protection as soon as you write it, and therefore can be uploaded without obtaining a formal registered copyright. If you wish to enjoy the protection of a registered copyright, LitPitch.com can provide that service for you for a flat fee of $99 per item. You can also register your own copyright with the federal government for a fee of $45. To obtain copyright forms or read more about copy right law, go to www.copyright.gov. |
